About Wellmet

We started Wellmet because most people in a disagreement want the same thing: to be heard, and to find a way forward that doesn’t leave either of them worse off.

A quiet waiting area with an oak bench and sage cushions, a small table with a clay teapot and two cups, and a tall window with a linen curtain.

How we stay neutral

We don’t take sides, ever. We ask each of you the same questions, give each of you the same time and keep what you tell us apart until you say otherwise.

Decisions are yours. Ours is the job of helping you get there.

What we don’t do

We don’t give legal advice, and we don’t tell you what to decide. We don’t act for one of you against the other.

If you need advice, we’ll say so and help you think about who to ask.

Our rooms

Our rooms are small and calm on purpose, and tea is always on offer.

Your mediators

Ruth Ellingham

Family and parenting

Ruth spent nineteen years in schools, ending as a deputy head, where most of her days went on helping people find common ground. She has been mediating for nine years. She is patient, plain-spoken and good at slowing a tense room down.

“I keep things simple, one topic at a time, and I make sure each of you gets to finish your sentence.”

Tomas Varga

Workplace and community

Tomas began in social work and later moved into human resources, where he found that the same conversation, held early, prevented months of trouble. He has been mediating for seven years. He is quiet, practical and comfortable with silence.

“I listen first, ask what each of you needs, then help you find options that work in real life.”
